the 1940’s WWII Era Ball to be held on Saturday June 18, 2016

at the Boulder Airport for your calendar.  The 8th Annual 1940s WWII Era Ball and destination event will transport two-thousand plus guests back to the 1940’s through music, costumes, a pin-up girl contest, food, drinks, and dancing. The annual sell-out event raises money for the Wounded Warriors Project, the Spirit of Flight Center Colorado, and the Audie Murphy Museum.

A USO-style event, the 1940’s WWII Ball will feature musical acts from Frank Sinatra, and the Andrews’ Sisters impersonators, plus comedian Bob Hope. Guests have the opportunity to mingle and dance among 1940’s classic cars, WWII planes, military vehicles, and re-enactors. The Boulder Airport hangar will be transformed into Casablanca’s Rick’s Café American for the event with belly dancers, Sam, Rick and roulette tables.

In addition, this year for the first time, Ball-goers have the opportunity to participate in the full “Weekender Package.”  If you can’t get enough of the 1940’s Era, then you can extend your weekend of fun from Friday night through Sunday a.m. hangover brunch.  The Weekender Package will be hosted at the Hotel Boulderado (special room rates available!) and includes:

"When American servicemen returned home from World War II, they brought with them stories and souvenirs from the South Pacific. James Michener won the 1948 Pulitzer Prize for his collection of short stories, Tales of the South Pacific, which in turn was the basis for South Pacific, the 1949 musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein, also a Pulitzer Prize winner.  All of this helped fuel the Polynesian Pop or Tiki Culture in the U.S."

"A Trip Back in Time!"

--The LA TIMES

"The playful, reverent and ultimately nostalgic event offers everything you'd expect--sounds like a tradition to us."

--Denver Post

"Highlights include a twelve-piece orchestra; roasted chestnuts, rum cake and holiday cocktails; a glass blower creating ornaments; The [venue] transformed into a movie set - White Christmas, naturally - complete with falling snow, sleighs, Christmas trees, WWII-era vehicles, military reenactors and a canopy of lights."  --Westword

Come enjoy Boulder Airport's summer beauty with good friends, good music and good dancing!

"Our experiences are a bigger part of ourselves than our material goods. You can really like your material stuff. You can even think that part of your identity is connected to those things, but nonetheless they remain separate from you. In contrast, your experiences really are part of you. We are the sum total of our experiences."

--Elite Daily

What's your favorite memory from the Ball?  What are you most looking forward to?

Attendee Andre Miller says,

"Hanging out with best friends and seeing the ball the very first time - I knew it was a keeper coming back every year and forever!"

"A fulfilling life doesn't lie in our possessions -- it's found in the experiences we have and the people we share them with. If you're going to spend a little moolah, spend it on a trip, a concert or any other experience that will bring you joy. Science says you'll be happier in the long run."-CNN

"The scenery looked straight out of a film set inspired by the Greatest Generation. Girls donned sky-high victory rolls and men were dressed ready to serve.  The setting of the evening was so picturesque that there were several wedding proposals. Each lovely lady said yes and the men won points among the crowd for creativity."

--9 NEWS

"The war is over, but the more positive spirit of the '40s lives on at this vintage ball. Take swing dancing lessons and play roulette to the sounds of a Frank Sinatra. Later, mingle with impersonators of Dwight D. Eisenhower and Bob Hope, and marvel at a real WWII bomber."

 --5280 Magazine

"best night of my life!!! Cant wait for the summer ball."

Heather Deschaine

"What an amazing night!!! Did not want it to end. Thanks!"

-Gino Colletti

"Three generations of our family attended. Two of which flew out from California, one drove from pueblo and the rest are local. We all had a blast and can't wait for June!!!" --Alysia Padilla

"I had a awesome time! I thought the whole event was a night to remember...it sure was for me." --Star Rider

"An absolutely wonderful ball, all the ladies looked so beautiful and the men were just dashing. We definitely felt like we had jumped into a time warp." --Suan Bonine

"Loved the fact that *everyone* was dressed up, that we were in such a great venue (Glenn Miller Story anyone? It felt like Glenn Miller and Jimmy Stewart were right there with us!),and I loved the entertainment. My husband and I are planning on making it a yearly event too!"  --Jennifer Smith-Daigle
