 Up the Creek

  Creekers & Friends ( Ladies & Gents )

We do have a volunteer who is bringing a Net & Ball this coming Wed so V-Ball is a go. Richard Kranski is the Man of the Week who has volunteered. This will probably be the last Wed as Sep 26 is the Up The Creek Winter Kickoff Meeting and we will not be playing on that day. That would then take us into Oct and the evenings would probably be too short for when the working people could arrive.

Re: UTC Wash Park Pickup Volleyball - Wed Sep 19 - 4.30 PM - The Encore

Toasty Playing Conditions are in the forecast for Wed Night out on the Green Grass Knoll.

Our Lost & Found Items for this season are as such:  Brown Ball Cap with Logo - ILULISSAT / Beige Ball Cap with Logo - Jones & JacobsWomen's Pair of Sunglasses - Gold Frames - China / Women's Pair of Sunglasses - Tiger Brown Frames - Tahari / Purple Pink Sunglass Frames / Tan Sunglass Frames

We had a blast last Wed and played for over 3 hours. There were some new faces as well as our usual regulars. We had 2 nets going which contained 6X6,5X5,4X4,3X3 so nets for all desires and ability levels. Special thanks to Richard K for bringing a net and setting it up for our playing pleasure. Thanks to Dave H for referring his Meetup Group to the UTC Group.

We meet in the middle of Wash Park ( rectangle ) just in from Downing & Tennessee

Highly recommended items to bring are lawn chair, ball cap, suntan lotion, libations, bottled water, and snacks.Lets play V-Ball to celebrate Summer as temps will near 87 degrees this Wed with sunshine and low winds. Be prepared for an awesome Chamber of Commerce Scene. And as always "Long Live the Well" !!!

Come play and join in with the Festive Wash Park Scene ( multiple nets for sure ) Lets continue on a roll with the V-Ball Fun !!! We meet in the middle of Wash Park ( rectangle ) just in from Downing & Tennessee near the large playground and at the corner of the famous oak trees where we have been meeting for years. We locate about 50 – 70 Yards east of the playground out in the open field. This is near all the other V-Ball Nets that exists each week.

Catch the V-Ball Fever !!! Round up a Buddy and stroll on in for the V-Ball fun and the awesome spring fever seen throughout Wash Park. Each week we get new Creekers show up so it is very interesting week to week. Some of the folks come to socialize and that is really cool. Some weeks, we get a variety of games in that entail 2's,3's,4's,5's,6's. Feel free to bring non-members, family, and friends. If you have a volleyball, please bring it so we have extra balls for practicing skills.

Remember, this is 3 hit volleyball ( Bump, Set, Spike ) as oppose to Jungleball. We will train newcomers if they are not familiar with these skills.

Our goal is to satisfy all ability levels and get all interested players who show up involved in the action. If the turnout is light, of course it is okay to mix all types of ability levels on the same net. Like last year we would like to continue multiple nets for different ability levels. With 3 nets, we should be able to accommodate all ability levels assuming the turnout is large enough and varied as such:

Advanced Net - 3 Hit Volleyball ( Bump, Set, Spike ) at all times. This net would encompass those with proficient skills. Players in this category need to take the initiative to setup this net and make it happen. This net can consist of player teams ranging from 2 X 2, 3 X 3,and 4 X 4. Advanced players who have been playing for years are looking for this type of volleyball.

Intermediate Net - 3 Hit Volleyball ( Bump, Set, Spike ) recommended. This net would encompass those with average skills. Players in this category need to take the initiative to setup this net and make it happen.

Beginner Net - 3 Hit Volleyball ( Bump, Set, Spike ) recommended. This net would encompass those learning the skills. Players in this category need to take the initiative to setup this net and make it happen.

Courtesy Rules:

Call the score before each serve so that all players can hear.

After each play is over roll the ball back to the server on the ground gently.

If you interfere with the net by touching it with your body please say that you netted and the play will be dead and serve will go to the other team.

Kicking the ball over the net is allowed as long as it is a soft attempt out of desperation.

Net serves are only good when playing 4 X 4 or greater.

Come out to an awesome venue where the sights are plentiful and awesome V-Ball games await your participation !!! Most importantly, bring your Ferrets since they deserve open space and clean city air.

Let’s continue this great UTC Tradition !!! This has always been a lot of fun for Creekers over the years and we look forward to seeing you guys out on the green grassy knoll real soon for some "Good Ole Urban Fun" !!!

Thanks,
